1959 Paris Easter Week

Photo of School Trip to Paris at Easter 1958 with group at Versailles Palace, and possibly taken by John Knights, 1955 pupil. Names by Ken Hogan and Peter Turner, both 1954 pupils, and Christine MacPherson (Upton), 1956 pupil, whose husband improved on this image for the later sectional versions to follow this one.

STANDING - Mrs Stockbridge, Ken Hogan, Alan Claxton, Betty Medus, Anne Lambley, Myra Stanbury, Josephine Moss, Mrs Cooper, Pat Young, Josephine Traylen, Jennifer Whale, (Mme Muller guide), Fred Tippett, Peter Turner, Mr Bassett.

SITTING - John Horder, Jean Meeuwissen, Janet Briggs, Christing Dockley, Sheila Roberts, Eileen Farrow, Christine Upton, Elizabeth Bechervaise, Mary Jeffreys, Betty Ager, Yvonne Brittain.

Other names remembered by Christine - Val Keasy, U. Fuller, Valerie Player?, and John Knights, who might have taken this photo.

Notes below by Peter Turner - It was Easter, 1958. We went Newhaven to Dieppe (4 hours flat calm), and Calais to Dover on our return ( one hour, choppy - I felt seasick, as I tried shandy in a below decks bar!) Other memories - the female courier was beautiful but not interested in her job. Stayed in an old lycee in the Latin Quarter in dormitory, very basic. Very hot at Versailles, Montmartre very impressive. I discovered I was not very good at heights when we went up the Eiffel Tower.
